Our hair does get thinner as we age and more for some than others but with today's medications and creams etc we may be able to slow this down.

I have looked into many hair loss remedies and have found some that are better than others in how they say the can slow down hair loss and some even say they will help your existing hair grow more and stronger. I do not know about that but have heard of some of the good some of them do.

By Robert Franklin

Your hair goes through three distinct life cycles. First is the Anagen cycle. This cycle last two to six years and is when your hair is healthy and growing. The second cycle is called Categen. Categen is when your hair starts to thin and your hair follicles start to shrink. This phase lasts for a few weeks. The third Cycle is called Tologen. Tolgen is when your hair falls out to make room for new hair follicles.

Androgen is the hormone that is responsible for hair growth in your body. What happens in some men is that an enzyme called 5 alphas attaches itself to the androgen hormone witch in turn allows testosterone to adhere to the Androgen hormone. The result is that instead of promoting hair growth the hybrid hormone called Dihydotestosterone or DHT for short dramatically shortens your hair's growth cycle. The problem with DHT is that it not only shortens your hairs natural life spam of two to six years it acts to prevent the new hair follicles from forming.

Minoxidil the only government approved hair loss ingredient acts to block the adhesion of the 5 Alfa enzyme to your natural hair growth hormone Androgen. By doing so allows your natural hair regrowth process to start anew. This process can take some time depending upon the amount of damage the DHT hormone has done to your hair follicles.

For natural healthy hair ingredients like vitamin B6, Biotin, Magnesium, Zinc, Saw Palmetto, Stinging Nettle leaf, Pumpkin Seed, Eleuthero Root, Uva-Ursi Root and Muira Puama all work to create the perfect conditions for naturally healthy hair and hair regrowth. If it's a genetic feature like male pattern baldness all the hair re-growth products in the world will not help until you're willing to address this fact. If you have a health problem or stress that is causing your hair to fall out you must address those problems. Menopause And Hair Loss Is Not A Myth

By Robert Sanders

Are you one of the many people who doesn't know that menopause and hair loss is real and quite common? There is nothing to be ashamed of because most believe this is a problem that mostly affects men. However, hair loss is very common in women.

Although it is not as common for women's hair to fall out, when it happens, it leaves them feeling stressed and quite depressed about it.

Regardless of that, their problem is quite different from the pattern baldness that affects males. Male pattern baldness causes men to lose their hair in specific ways, often leading to the horseshoe that remains after all falls out.

Women-pattern baldness is typically the thinning of the hair on the top of the scalp. For many, it can get quite thin, leaving women feeling very insecure and trying different hairstyles to conceal the problem. Unfortunately, they usually opt for styles which can further damage hair follicles, leading to more thinning.

Do you know any women who are going through menopause and hair loss? It is a trying time for them. Not only are they having to deal with the hormonal changes that come with menopause, they are also dealing with an embarrassing and emotionally crushing problem.

Up until recently, women had no real choice in treating their hair. They only had perms, ponies and teasing which would help them conceal their problem. Fortunately, all this has changed and women have the option of choosing between topical solutions and oral medications that are prescribed by the doctor. The truth is, they work. In the worst case scenario, the medications will at least maintain the remaining hair from falling out. The bottom line is that now something can be done about menopause and hair loss that will help with regrowth and maintenance.

Saw Palmetto Helps With Hair Loss - Native Indian Remedy

By John Farikani

The fact that Saw Palmetto helps with hair loss is widely known. It's scientific name is 'seronoa repens'. It's a powerful little plant that has big leaves and a small red berry that is used to treat many different maladies. It's been used by our Native Indians for quite a few decades, and our pioneer fathers learned of it's medicinal purposes as well. It acts as an anti-androgen. Androgen is one of the major contributors to hair loss.

The berry of the Saw Palmetto plant is loaded with phytonutrients. These work like interrupters of the hormonal process that enlarge the prostate. So for many men today, this is good news. They also take it for erectile dysfunction. The uses for this little plant just go on and on, with a wide range of maladies on it's list of things that it can help.

Propecia, used to treat Alopecia, works much the same way as the Saw Palmetto berry. Scientists noticed this and decided to give the Saw Palmetto a test or two. The results were good. For hair loss, the Saw Palmetto worked on a condition called 'androgenetic alopecia' and so from there it really took off. It seems there's no end to the benefits that this plant brings with it.

There are plenty of herbal supplements on the market today. But for most of them, they've not been put through a clinical trial. Not so for the Saw Palmetto berry. And after the tests were made, the results were more than satisfactory. No significant side effects were attributed, unless take on an empty stomach. Then a headache or a stomach ache can occur. After all, it does work on the hormones. That's why it's wise for a woman who's pregnant or nursing to abstain from it.

The hormone responsible for hair loss is DHT. Otherwise known as 'dihydrotestosterone', whenever the body produces too much of this DHT, it will grab onto the hair follicles and choke off the nutrient passage from the blood, making the hair weak and causing it to shrink. The Saw Palmetto counteracts this action and restores healthy hair follicles and healthy hair.

When ranked among the top medical herbs in the U. S. Today, the Saw Palmetto comes in at number five. The only thing you need to keep in mind, is that it works in a hormonal way. So if you're taking hormone-related treatments or drugs of any kind, you may want to consult your doctor first. This plant has really boomed big time over in Europe, and is widely used there. Some people don't know it, but it can be used for improving the sex drive also.

Hair loss and Saw Palmetto are matched in just one of the wars that this plant is engaged in. From sex drive to bladder control, this powerful berry can help you with your ailments. It's extremely popular over in Europe, and widely used here in the U. S. I can see why the pioneers of long ago used to make teas and drinks out of it. No doubt they learned of its' benefits even way back then.

Effective Treatments For Hair Loss In Women

By Steve Glide

Whilst men suffer hair loss far more readily than women, the emotional effects can be far more severe. However, despite how worrying a condition it is, there are many ways it can be successfully treated.

If you are suffering with hair loss, it is important to note that in most cases it is simply a temporary reaction, and will require no treatment at all. As a first check, you should analyze your general health, stress levels, diet and lifestyle and, most important of all; be patient.

Should the issue continue, you should seek guidance from your doctor or registered professional, in order they can seek the most appropriate care and uncover any underlying conditions, (such as hormonal issues or family history of female hair loss). There are no miracle cures; despite what many suggest on the internet.

Despite no cures being available; there are some effective treatments. Most respected amongst these is Minoxidil, which can be directly applied to the scalp in the form of a lotion. However, it needs to be noticed that only twenty percent notice moderate re-growth, whilst a further forty percent experience minimal levels of improvement.

This treatment tends to only be effective for women up to the age of 45, and will require a lifetime of treatment to maintain results. Indeed, stopping the application of the drug will certainly result in hair loss commencing again and could, lead to more dramatic loss.

However, it is true that many people do manage to cope with the condition; through the use of conditioners and shampoos for hair thickening; whilst wigs can be useful too. As a last resort surgery could be attempted, though there are no guarantees and risks are always to be considered.

Whilst surgery is an option, it is naturally invasive and needs careful consideration. There are two main options for such treatment; Hair transplant and Scalp reduction. Each treatment requires painful procedures, where the scalp is either punched with holes and hair sewn in from other parts of the body, or skin is stretched and moved around the scalp respectively.

Finally, if you are suffering from hair loss, it is important to understand that things such as washing, coloring, combing and brushing are in no way linked to the condition. The hair is a resilient part of the human body, and takes a lot of external influences to affect its condition.
