The question is, "Do I stay or do I go?"
I ask my Soul for a sign, a very clear sign, to show me to take off my wedding band. That sign will be the green light to leave my marriage. A marriage that was wonderful until one day my Soul told me that my destiny was elsewhere.
I know the answer in my heart. Although my wedding band from Josh is still on my finger, my heart and mind are in love with a man who lives in Taiwan on the other side of the Black Sea. Am I really considering leaving my marriage for a man I've known less than a week?
When I looked Syb in the eyes when we first met during a field hockey tournament in Jakarta, my Soul whispered that he was the "one," and that we were soul mates. I recognized it instantly, and that day my world turned upside down.
I asked my Soul one night to give me a very clear sign that I could not miss. "I need a sign that shows me that I should take off my wedding ring." I would then know that I had to leave my marriage. I knew this request would leave no room for guesswork.
I forget my question for a while and focus my attention on my job, which I dearly love. I am a teacher at the Dutch Elementary School in Singapore and love my children passionately.
Before I consider a divorce, Syb tells me I have to try to make my marriage to Josh work. Is there anything left to try, though, once my Soul has told me to listen and leave? I agree to try my best to focus on my marriage, but I find it's almost impossible.
I deeply feel the pain and guilt I've caused to all of us, and my heart aches for Syb and Josh at the same time. I love my husband, but I'm in love with Syb. That is both the problem and the answer.
Then the day arrives that I know in my heart I have to leave my marriage. I will fly to Holland and divorce Josh before I meet with Syb in Taiwan. It's the hardest decision I've ever made, but I do it anyway.
I have my answer when I take my suitcase out of the cupboard, and there is no guesswork.
My suitcase is stacked on the top of the cupboard in our Singaporean home, so I have to climb a ladder to get to it high up on our bedroom wall near the ceiling.
While reaching for the suitcase from the top of the ladder, I feel stinging pain in my hand as I hear a loud bang. The ceiling fan has hit my left finger's wedding ring. And then it happens. In response to the flash of intense pain and without any thought, I instantly pull off my wedding band and it falls to the floor.
Climbing down the ladder, I stand and stare at the ring on the floor and my swollen finger, and then up at the ceiling fan. Here I am, my wedding ring off my finger and my suitcase in hand.
My Soul's answer is very clear, but still I tremble...
When you listen to your Soul, you have to move out of your comfort zone and be willing to be out of your mind.
But bear in mind that you'll be led to your best destinies
