Hair today Gone Tommorrow

Balding is not something anyone would look forward to. Even though we are unable to stop aging we can help ourselves when it comes to hair loss.

Our hair does get thinner as we age and more for some than others but with today's medications and creams etc we may be able to slow this down.

I have looked into many hair loss remedies and have found some that are better than others in how they say the can slow down hair loss and some even say they will help your existing hair grow more and stronger. I do not know about that but have heard of some of the good some of them do.

Why Does Female Hair Loss Occur?

By Paula Stevens

Female hair loss can be an embarrassing problem. Most people do not like to talk about it and are embarrassed to even mention it with their physician. However, about twenty percent of women suffer some type of hair loss. Hair loss affects a women's appearance which in turn can negatively affect her self esteem.

There are signs of hair loss in women as well as causes that can be corrected. Some symptoms that could alert a women that a problem may be occurring is if there is thinning all over their head. Also thinning could be occurring in one spot. Opposite than most men, thinning does not just occur in the front hairline.

Another sign is a significant loss occurring near the crown or hairline. Severe and permanent thinning can also be called female pattern balding. Rarely leading to complete baldness, female pattern balding sometimes presents itself by balding near the crown or thins over the entire head.

There are various causes of female hair loss. Hormones are the number one factor in hair loss. Many women lose a significant amount of hair after pregnancy, menopause or times of severe distress. These times cause a major flux of hormones that seems to trigger the hair loss. There are many other reasons for the problem such as thyroid, liver or pituitary gland issues. Anemia, a vitamin or mineral deficiency or allergies can even cause the problem. Side effects of medications can sometimes lead to hair loss. It has been found that lead or mercury poisoning can cause one to lose their hair. One of the side effects from a recent Hepatitis B vaccination can be hair loss.

Eating disorders can cause thinning hair. A woman who chemically treats their hair often may have problems. Over processing with chemicals can damage the scalp and hair follicles.

Hair loss can be an issue with women or men. It has a more dramatic and traumatic effect on women. Men can bald and look distinguished as they age. In our current society, women do not have that option. Luckily a lot of these causes can be corrected by maintaining a healthy lifestyle, having hair colored by a professional and seeing a physician for annual checkups to head off any problems.
