This text was the work of Levi H. Dowling. It was published in 1908. The revelations the Aquarian Gospel contains were learned by him when he accessed the Akashic Records. These records are also known as the Book of Life. Revealed in it are pages of a person's life. The soul, before it is born into a body, may study this book, and determine many aspects of the life he is to lead here.
Once the soul is born, it forgets about the Akashic Record. Some clairvoyants however have been able to access the Record and have released the information they found. Dowling's text is such a report. Though there have been reports of some historical inconsistencies, many of the details in Dowling's work raise some interesting questions.

When the soul chooses its life's journey, it is allowed to make reparations for previous wrongs. In this way, the soul grows, eventually becomes whole, and is christened.
We know God before we enter this existence. When we are born, this knowledge is forgotten. Even if we do not find our belief in him in this mortal sphere, God does not forsake us. We are able to regain that knowledge through the cycle of lives our souls travel through.
In the 1960's, young people revived interest in Dowling's text. It is thought that the groups called 'Jesus Freaks' were followers of the Aquarian Gospel. They called their church the Christine Church, believing that the church is the bride of Christ.
There are some compelling answers to metaphysical questions in this work. It continues to provoke controversy amongst adherents and critics. In spite of what some have considered inconsistencies, the belief system inspired by this writing has much to offer those who question existence.
