Have you noticed that people suffering hair loss have short hair. Some even shave their head. Some celebrities have made it cool - Bruce Willis, Michael Jordan, Vin Diesel - to name a few.
You know what? This sucks. It sucks having to go around with short hair or no hair when your hair starts thinning.
Here's how the hair shortening progresses.
First, you buy electric clippers with a clipper guard. You're optimistic and use the longest part of the guard. This is a buzz cut.
Second, as your hair continues to thin, you start buzzing your hair shorter - maybe going with a 2 or 1 on the clipper guard. This is when your hair starts getting short.
Third, your hair loss is so palpable, your only choice is to shave it off completely with a bic razor (or any shaving razor).
Is a buzz cut or shaved head so bad?
It depends on your head. If you have an egg-shaped head, it's not that great. If you have an angled head, then it's not so bad (in my view).
But let's be realistic, you'd rather have a full head of hair. There are few people who would choose being bald over having the option of a full head of hair. And yes, there are some people who really don't care - but I suspect if you're reading this that you do care.
This reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where Elaine realizes that here shaved-head boyfriend is actually going bald. You see, when she thought he chose to shave his head, she thought the shaved head was sexy. When she realized he was actually losing his hair, the attraction ended.
That's what it's like. You may well choose to shave your head, but it's the option to have hair or shave your head that's important.
In my view avoiding having to go the route of a buzz cut and then the "to-the-skin" shaved head is the optimal solution.
