Hair today Gone Tommorrow

Balding is not something anyone would look forward to. Even though we are unable to stop aging we can help ourselves when it comes to hair loss.

Our hair does get thinner as we age and more for some than others but with today's medications and creams etc we may be able to slow this down.

I have looked into many hair loss remedies and have found some that are better than others in how they say the can slow down hair loss and some even say they will help your existing hair grow more and stronger. I do not know about that but have heard of some of the good some of them do.

Propecia and its Effects on the Body

By John Haggin

The drug Propecia is used to treat male pattern baldness. Propecia reduces the thinning of hair in the crown area of the head but have no effect on hair loss at the temple region in case of any male pattern baldness. The release of a male hormone, androgen which regulates the hair growth in men is inhibited by the medicine propecia.
There are some side effects associated with propecia as with any drug Decreased sexual performance or desire side effects are common during the use of propecia. Other known sexual side effects of propecia are the erectile dysfunction where the person may have decreased sexual arousal and ability to have or maintain a erection. The quantity of semen produced during a climax is lessened and pains in the testicles are also the side effects that are associated with propecia. Men really do not realize that these side effects are occurring in them and forget how they felt before the hair loss treatment of propecia was started, as these side effects occur very slowly and in a more subtle manner. These sexual libido reducing effects of propecia is known to be reversed after stopping the drug after several weeks among men. And, some people like to reverse it very quicker with the help of certain libido boosting products available in the market.
Some changes in the breast due to propecia side effects include breast enlargement, breast pain, breast tenderness, lump formation and nipple discharge. Immediate medical treatment is needed if the patient is suffering from any of these propecia side effects. Other noted side effects of propecia include itching, hives and rashes. Other possible side effects of propecia are the swelling of the face and/or lips, breathing and/or swallowing problems. Immediate medical attention should be seeked in case any of these allergic symptoms persist. Edema and a faint feeling in the extremities like swelling of the feet or hands are other side effects of propecia that happens very rare. Less frequent side effects like rhinitis or stuffy nose, malaise and fatigue, postural hypotension that means varied blood pressure upon a change in body's position is experienced by very less number of men.
Other side effects of Propecia, mask the symptoms of prostate cancer. In men who use propecia, the PSA or prostate specific antigen level decreases in the body, even if prostate cancer is present. So it is essential that men take a secondary examination to check the presence of prostate cancer if any than to rely only on the level of PSA in the body, especially while starting to take propecia. The complications of developing a high Gleason Score prostate cancer are increased in men over 55 years of age. Overemphasis on a regular prostate examination is also not necessary among men who use propecia for the treatment of male pattern baldness.
Propecia does not help women in any way with age related hair loss problems and has shown unwanted side effects on the developing fetus, therefore should not be taken. The damage to the fetus may occur even before pregnancy is known. Birth defects are nothing but the absence of genitalia in the new born.
